Shared-Axis Partnering taught by Kate Weare, Choreographer, and Douglas Gillespie, Rehearsal Director and Dancer of KWCo: Shared-axis partnering cultivates strength and sensitivity in the individual dancer while exploring the shared/displaced space between two partners. This partnering technique, developed within Weare's in-studio choreographic investigations, is surprising and illuminating for those used to dancing solo or to traditional partnering norms. Sharing the central axis while dancing with with a partner develops clarity of intention, keen listening skills, and offers a fascinating metaphor for communication in relationship. Based around a spirit of investigation, the class is unisex, great fun and brings dancers into closer contact the way only partnering can!
Kate Weare Company is currently looking for understudies for its new work Dark Lark. If you're attending the workshop and would like to be considered, please introduce yourself to Kate before class.

Dance Fest India presents: The Classical Indian Dance Passport Series where participants journey through different regions of India and learn the signature movements of 3 distinct traditional dances. Indian dance is ornamented with percussive foot movements, and variations of unique upper body spatial patterns. Odissi, is known for its lyrical flow and sculpturesque postures, Bharata Natyam imbibes sharp angles and energized footwork , and kathak is stylized with dynamic spins and rhythmic play with time cycles. All 3 forms are derived from the ancient temples of India.
